Durham, North Carolina – May 13th, 2022 – Touchstone Research announced today that Erik Erwin has joined the firm as Sr. Project Director. Erik will work closely with TSR’s tech, media and entertainment and youth and clients in executing a wide range of innovative qualitative research programs. Erik is among 15 new hires added to the firm over the past 12 months.
Erik is an anthropologist with over 10 years of experience uncovering insights about consumer culture for Fortune 500s and ad agencies in categories including: technology, CPG, finance, health care, food and beverage, automotive, clothing, and others. Prior to that he worked in Iraq doing on-the-ground socio-cultural research for the US Army, seeking to help decision makers better understand the local culture and more effectively interact with the local people.
Erik has a master’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Colorado, Boulder and a bachelor’s in Business from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and is a RIVA trained qualitative research moderator.

Erik has been an anthropologist since he was in the womb – literally. His mother was finishing her degree in anthropology when she was pregnant with him. And ever since he entered the world he’s been fascinated by the diversity of human culture, and why people think and do the things they do. Erik has been to 44 states including Alaska and 6 continents including Antarctica and he plans to eventually make it to all of them. And in his free time, he likes to mountain bike, whitewater kayak, and go camping with his family.
