In 2012, Palmer Luckey created a Kick-starter campaign to raise money for what would become the Oculus Rift. Shortly thereafter in 2014, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg bought the company for an impressive $2 billion. This VR device can track facial expressions to display on a virtual avatar, has wireless hand controllers to mimic movement, and allows for a 360 degree perspective. Several different kinds of games that include action, sports, role playing, and combat can be played on this and other similar devices; which offers a unique and much more immersive gaming experience. However, as with other VR devices, the Oculus Rift can be utilized in more industries than just gaming; which is by far the most popular and well known. This device can be useful for education, manufacturing, medical science, social networking, space travel, and more. Though still new to the market the Oculus Rift is highly acclaimed, which can be attributed to its high resolution display, and high speed graphics; which are 2 things that drastically increase immersiveness and technological potential.
